2015 Chris Sports Darter of the Year Awardee, Dolreich “DJ” Tongcopanon of Robson-Gensan emerged victorious in the 2016 NDFP Federation Cup winning over newly installed National Master Prussian Arceño of Dominics 2-0 in the best of three sets-best of seven legs finals.  DJ was trailing Prussian Arceño 3-0 in the first set when DJ came back strong to even the score 3-3 setting up a thrilling deciding leg won by Tongcopanon.  The 2nd set was Tongcopanon all the way winning the set 4-1, and the championship.

The 2016 NDFP Federation Championship was a replay of the cash-laden 300K Dart Attack finals last October 2015 at the Resorts World Manila won by Toncopanon over Arceño.

The Semi-finals was a cross over between the top players in the final round robin of 4 players in Group A and B and the 2nd placed players in Group A and B – they are the remaining top 8 players after 2 stages of round robin elimination.

In Group A, another newly installed National Master, Jaypee Detablan won all his matches over Prussian Arceño, Roy Agustin and Val Capuyan. Prussian came in 2nd.  In the all National Masters Group B, Perez won all his matches while Tongcopanon, Noel Malicdem and Toto Andrade where tied with identical 1-2 scores.  In the sudden death match of 701, Malicdem threw a devastating consecutive 140’s but Tongcopanon was able to catch up with a 180, Andrade was left behind. With 78 left, Malicdem hit a T18 but missed two D12 for the semi-final win.  Tongcopanon hit a D4 for the win.

In the all National Masters Semi-finals, Prussian Arceño edged defending Federation Cup champion Christian Perez, in a cliff hanger deciding leg of the best of nine (9) semi-finals.  Prussian threw first in the decider and had a set up of D20 while Perez with 96 left hit a S20, T20 but wired the D8. Prussian nailed his outing.  It was a heart breaking lost for Perez who was all out for his 3rd consecutive Federation Cup title.  In the other semi-finals, Tongcopanon won over Detablan 5-3.

The NDFP Federation Cup is the most prestigious title to win.  The top 32 NDFP ranked players are invited in a grueling 3-stage round robin format with no registration fee to determine the top 4 players to play in the semi-finals.  Dart Excellence in consistency, focus and determination is the hallmark of the Federation Cup Champion.
