Congratulations to the new National Master, Alexis Toylo for winning his third National Open Singles in the recently concluded Darterong Pinoy 2017. He joins the elite group of the 15 Philippine National Masters since 2005.
Alexis won his 1st national open singles at the 150K Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City last February 2017, followed by his victory at the 100K Ignacio Zubiri Open of Malaybalay City in May 2017, then at the 200K Darterong Pinoy 2017. He is the fastest, among the 14 players with 2 national titles, to earn the National Master title. With the Open Singles titles he won this year: he is fast climbing the national player ranking landing on 6th spot, ranked 5th in the 2017 Darter of the Year Award, and the new top regional player in the Cagayan de Oro-Caraga NDFP regional tabulation after 3rd Quarter of 2017.
Alexis is another player who gained competitive experience from playing in the NDFP Youth Singles. He started playing at the age of 17 and won the NDFP Youth Singles titles in the 300K Pacman Cup in Alabel, Sarangani in 2010 and the 200K Cebu National Open in 2011. Alexis comes from the youth stable of Danny Quilinging in Cagayan de Oro City from where Alexis was born and raised. He played his first Darterong Pinoy in the Youth Singles of the 2010, travelling by land from CDO City.
Alexis gained national prominence when he won the P10K prize of the NDFP for throwing the Perfect 9-Darts Out in the 50K Huling Hirit, an NDFP Sanctioned and Ranking Tournament, in Davao City, 2013. Genelyn Bañez of Darkside brought Alexis to Manila to further hone his skills, after which he played for the Gunner of Lourence Ilagan.
Alexis Toylo has greatly matured as a player and gone are his childish antics and carefree youthful exuberance. He is a now a serious player under the mentorship of Ilagan as a stay-in practice partner where Alexis will continue to discover his full potential.
