PEREZ JOINS ILAGAN, ESCAROS IN PDC ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Updated July 15, 2022

Christian Perez of Robson – Koronadal City will join the DOT TOP Gunner tandem of Lourence Ilagan and RJ Escaros in the upcoming PDC Asian Championship in Fukuoka, Japan from September 22 – 25, 2022.

The PDC Asian Championship is the “road to Ally Pally”, or the Asian Qualifier to the World Darts Championship slated this December at the Alexandra Palace in London. The four-day event will give players across the region a chance to secure one of four spots in the Cazoo World Darts Championship as well as scoop the $15,000 top prize.

According to the PDC website, “The 48-player main event on September 24-25 will be preceded by two days of Asian Series qualifiers in Fukuoka, with four qualifying events split across September 22-23. The last four players from each qualifier will secure a place in the main event, alongside a further 11 players from an Asian Series Order of Merit.”

The main event will also feature the eight players who competed in the 2022 World Cup of Darts from Japan, Philippines, Singapore, and Hong Kong, plus one additional qualifier per country.

Ilagan and Escaros competed at the Cazoo World Cup of Darts in June and will be part of the 48-player main event, including Christian Perez as the additional qualifier from the Philippines.

Perez shared the Joint 3rd & 4th placement with fellow Robson teammate, Paolo Nebrida in the Philippine Qualifier to the Cazoo World Cup of Darts held last May in Tacloban City. With considerations for the increasing costs of transportation and accommodation, and with the approval of the Professional Darts Corporation, the NDFP has moved to make the 3rd placer of its World Cup Qualifier as the third Filipino qualifier to the PDC Asian Championship.

Last June 25, Perez and Nebrida battled for Philippine Qualifier 3rd Place in Tacloban City. Perez emerged as winner with a score of 8 - 6 in a best of 15 legs.

The NDFP extends its well wishes to Lourence Ilagan, RJ Escaros, Christian Perez, and all the other Filipino darters who will troop to Fukuoka for the $100,000 Asian Championship.

Good luck!
